Over the next week we will be reaching out to the community to ask them to help contact the ISD 623 School Board to ask for a fair contract for our teachers. They should fill out this petition. Please feel free to share the petition widely on your social media feeds.

A couple of other important pieces of information:

1. On Saturday February 21st Roseville Educators will be meeting with members of the community in a listening session at RAHS Media Center to discuss what our teachers need to see in a new contract. The meeting is open to the public at 1:30 PM at Roseville Area High School Media Center at 1240 West County Road B2. Please enter through the Administrative entrance (door #1) and proceed up the stairs to the Media Center.
2. We will be gathering with the public on Tuesday February 24th at Aŋpétu Téča  in the parking lot in the back of the building at 5 PM. We will have speakers from Education Minnesota, State Representative David Gottfried and EM-R President Maria Le Selmer. At the end of the rally we will be attending the public comments at the school board meeting from 6 to 6:30. We will be delivering the petition at that time.

• For 9 of the last 10 years, teacher salary increases in our district have been below the state average, making it harder to attract and retain great teachers for our students. Last year the district reduced spending on classroom instruction by 1% while increasing our administration payroll by 3%.

• Teachers continue to see little to no real paycheck growth because of rising healthcare costs. This is happening while the district’s fund balance has grown.

• Students learn better when teachers can give them enough individual attention. We are asking for class sizes, caseloads, and workloads that support student success.

• We are asking for competitive pay for new teachers and meaningful salary growth for experienced teachers who have dedicated their careers to our schools.

• We are asking the district to recognize the specialized skills and added work of educators who serve students with unique needs.

We are asking the district to honor the community investment by investing in the people who make those improvements matter for students. 

We want district and teachers to continue to work together to invest in the future of our district by investing in our teachers. We know the district values teachers, we are asking them to provide a contract in which our teachers can focus their time and effort on students and community.
